Stress processing

Psychological stress is essentially influenced by three factors: brain, body and social environment. Thus: thinking, feeling and acting. Only this interplay, as well as the personal experience and a possible suffering pressure, shows up where an imbalance could be. Methods of stress processing are personally and particular.

The personal feelings as signals of the body and the psyche become again perceptible after a therapy. Stress reduction is thereby possible. Feelings and thoughts can be controlled again. You have choices and influence on your feelings. You are no longer exposed to particular feelings, thoughts or a situation.

Why a differentiated perception is often challenging, is explained by neurobiology. The stress evaluation in the brain is processed in the Hippocampus, which is in a similar place as the pain processing. Changes in the structure of the Hippocampus by stress are related to chronic pain. Therefore the Hippocampus plays a major role in the reinforcement of pain and stress by anxiety. The fear of change is ultimately the fear of pain. It does not really matter for the brain and its reaction to fear, if it is only imagined or true. This leads to the fact, that fearful daily life is then often only experienced in three ways: in fight, flight or fright mode.

Internal balance

The burn – out syndrome is caused for example by a large number of stressful social and psychological stressors. Affected people have little to do with strategies to deal with stress appropriately. They are paradoxically too tense to relax. The goal of a treatment would be to re-experience the natural change of tension and relaxation. By this means, the client could restore the balance of thinking, feeling and action. This is just one of many methods to relax.

Another way to reduce stress is the daily handling of thoughts and subjective evaluations. Often emotional evaluation is associated with guilt, shame, and aggression. As a result, it leads to a downward spiral of negative injuries and emotions. A goal of therapy would then to deal differently than usual with stressful thoughts and emotions.
